Gene Expression & Molecular Biology Co-Op

We are seeking a motivated co‑op to support the development and optimization of gene expression workflows, including innovative laboratory methods to improve throughput, data quality, and operational scalability. The successful candidate will work closely with molecular biologists and genomics scientists to evaluate and optimize protocols that support downstream gene expression analyses. This role offers hands‑on experience with a broad range of molecular biology techniques and exposure to modern transcriptomics technologies.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role include

✓Perform RNA extraction and nucleic acid sample preparation from a variety of biological samples;
✓Design experimental controls and assay selection automation;
✓Conduct experiments to compare and improve sample processing methods;
✓Assist with preparation of samples for downstream transcriptomic analyses, including sequencing‑based applications;
✓Maintain accurate laboratory records and analyze experimental results;
✓Collaborate with scientists across molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics teams;
✓Present project findings and recommendations to research teams.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following

Desired Qualifications

✓Pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, or a related field;
✓Experience with molecular biology laboratory techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, or sample quality assessment;
✓Interest in transcriptomics, gene expression analysis, and genomics technologies;
✓Strong attention to detail and laboratory documentation skills;
✓Ability to analyze data and communicate results effectively;
✓Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant).
