The Senior Manager, Manufacturing provides oversight of Manufacturing Managers and Work Centered Teams operating on a 24/7 schedule to execute Cell Therapy manufacturing processes while sustaining a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, innovation, urgency, passion, and continuous improvement. This role reports to the Manufacturing Associate Director.

Saturday-Wednesday, Onsite Night Shift, 11:30 p.m. - 8 a.m.
Responsibilities
Ensure Manufacturing Managers and WCT members execute Cell Therapy manufacturing in compliance with cGMPs, approved SOPs, WIs, batch records, safety expectations, and ALCOA+ documentation principles.
Maintain hands-on process expertise across unit operations, support MRB data collection, provide weekend/technical coverage as needed, and develop CAR-T manufacturing and regulatory knowledge.
Manage production resources by tracking availability, supporting scheduling needs, maintaining records of planned/unplanned absences, and hiring talent aligned with job requirements, budget, and BMS values.
Set priorities, establish WCT goals, monitor performance, and report metrics and progress through Tier meetings, performance reviews, site control plans, and cross-functional manufacturing forums.
Maintain 100% on-time training compliance, ensure personnel are qualified before performing tasks, allocate time for training, and disqualify personnel from GMP tasks when compliance gaps are observed.
Build and develop high-performing teams through recruiting, onboarding, Workday profile maintenance, performance management, recognition, coaching, regular 1:1s, career development, and timely feedback.
Lead deviation troubleshooting and quality record ownership as BPO/BTA, ensure clear and timely deviation entries, monitor metrics, identify repeat causes, drive on-time closure, and prevent recurrence through continuous improvement.
Participate in CAPAs, Change Controls, and projects; define or own actions for Manufacturing and ensure implementation before due dates.
Control expenses within area of influence, including overtime, supplies, and travel/expense costs.
Model leader behaviors by maintaining shopfloor presence, conducting Gemba/Go & See activities, using tiered management, visual management, coaching kata, root-cause problem solving, risk escalation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Knowledge & Skills
Extensive knowledge of EHS, cGMPs, biotechnology principles, manufacturing systems, lean manufacturing, and regulated operations; Green Belt certification preferred.
Strong communication, adaptability, strategic leadership, team selection, and people management skills.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of relevant manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience managing direct reports.
Working Conditions
Role requires intermittent walking, sitting, standing, computer/documentation use, sufficient vision/hearing, ability to lift 25 pounds, and work in laboratories, cleanrooms, and controlled or restricted areas.
PPE and cleanroom garments may be required.
Exposure may include human blood components, reagents, chemicals, sanitization agents, and strong magnets.
Restricted areas may prohibit makeup, gum, nail polish, food, cell phones, tablets, or outside materials.
