Your new role As a Primary Packaging Engineer, you will become part of a highly skilled scientific environment where collaboration and knowledge sharing are at the core of how we work. You will work closely with colleagues across Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Production, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, and external suppliers to ensure that primary packaging materials continue to meet quality, compliance, and business requirements throughout their lifecycle.
A significant part of your role will focus on the lifecycle management and maintenance of commercial primary packaging materials. You will drive technical assessments, manage changes, support compliance activities, investigate quality issues, and ensure that packaging materials remain fit for purpose in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. At the same time, you will contribute to the implementation of new primary packaging materials, supporting their transition from clinical development into commercial production.
Your main responsibilities include: Driving lifecycle management of primary packaging materials for oral pharmaceuticals (e.g., blister packs, tablet bottles, and bulk containers), including change requests, change notifications, and continuous improvement Leading investigations into deviations, customer complaints, and technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions Supporting compliance projects and maintaining inspection-ready documentation in line with regulatory requirements Evaluating suppliers, material changes, and new technologies while documenting activities in the Quality Management System (QMS) Ensuring the technical performance, manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and patient safety of primary packaging components Supporting the implementation of new primary packaging materials from development through regulatory filing to commercial manufacturing The position is a 12-month maternity cover or can be converted to a 1-year Short Term Assignment/STA. Your new department You will join Drug Product Material Manufacturing Science and Technology, a department of approximately 75 employees organised into six teams in Lyngby. We ensure that GMP materials used at Novo Nordisk’s global manufacturing sites are robust, compliant and fit for purpose.
Our responsibilities cover the journey from development to production, and include primary packaging materials, raw materials, excipients, process aids, bulk containers and single-use systems. We collaborate closely with CMC, Device R&D, QC, QA, supply functions, production sites, suppliers and contract manufacturers to solve complex challenges and support reliable manufacturing. Your skills and qualifications To succeed in this role, you likely: Hold a master’s degree in engineering, materials science, pharmacy, or another relevant scientific discipline Have experience working in a GMP-regulated environment with responsibilities related to system engineering, risk management, quality management, and technical documentation Bring practical experience with the development, implementation, or lifecycle management of primary packaging for pharmaceutical products Are fluent in written and spoken English As a person, you are curious, analytical, and motivated by finding robust and sustainable technical solutions. You take ownership of your work, maintain a structured approach, and are comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and balancing technical detail with a broader business perspective.

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from DKK 570,200 to DKK 838,100 , corresponding to the level of the position.
