We offer an opportunity for you to learn and grow while making significant contributions to the company's success.SystImmune is seeking a Research Associate II or Senior Research Associate to join the AIDD Protein Science Automation team in Bothell, WA. This is a newly created position established to benchmark and operate the company’s antibody screening workflow. The Research Associate will provide the experimental capacity to run cell-free antibody and protein expression, purification, primary screening, and candidate confirmation, while generating reproducible protocols that can be transferred to automation.This role is focused on wet-lab experimentation in protein science and assay development.
The RA will contribute to setting up and building out the new automation wet lab.The successful candidate will independently execute reproducible cell-free protein synthesis, purification, and assay workflows with defined controls and SOPs. You will own routine screening batches, deliver consistent candidate data, and transfer validated methods to automation.This position is on-site at our Bothell, WA facility.ResponsibilitiesProtein Expression and PurificationPrepare DNA templates and run cell-free expression reactions for antibodies, antibody fragments, and other proteins.Perform affinity or magnetic-bead purification, quantification, and protein quality assessment.Assay Execution and ScreeningRun AlphaLISA or ELISA primary screens and support BLI confirmation.Own routine experimental setup, assay execution, data QC, repeat decisions, and protocol optimization within approved experimental plans.Method Development and DocumentationDefine controls, acceptance criteria, repeat rules, plate maps, and data-review templates.Maintain reagents, experimental records, SOPs, and batch documentation.Generate reproducible protocols and support the transfer of validated methods to automation.Lab Build-OutContribute to setting up and building out the new automation wet lab and its robot-based workflows.RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.Research Associate IIrequires bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of industry experience.Senior Research Associaterequires bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or master’s degree with 3+ years of industry experience.Hands-on recombinant protein expression and purification experience, preferably with antibodies or antibody fragments.Experience with protein assays such as AlphaLISA, ELISA, BLI, SDS-PAGE, or comparable methods.Strong experimental design, assay troubleshooting, data analysis, and documentation skills.Completion of standard laboratory safety and data-integrity training upon hire. No external certification is required.PreferredExperience with cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS).Experience with magnetic-bead purification and AKTA chromatography.Experience with Octet BLI instrumentation and BMG plate readers.Experience with assay miniaturization.Experience with automated liquid handlers or laboratory robotics.Experience with barcode tracking or a laboratory information management system (LIMS).Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and work at the bench or instrument platform for extended periods, and to occasionally lift or move laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies.Compensation and Benefits:The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually.
Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s level qualifications, experience, and skills.While most offers typically fall within thelow to mid-pointof the range, we may extend an offer toward the higher end for exceptional candidates whose background and expertise exceeds the requirements of the role.SystImmune is a leading and well-funded biotech company with a bright future.
