Job Description About the role: The Enterprise Supplier Partnerships Lead is responsible for enhancing Takeda’s relationships with its most strategically important enterprise suppliers into partnerships that advance Takeda’s enterprise priorities.
Working across Global Procurement and the Business, the Director establishes clear governance, aligns executive sponsors and cross-functional stakeholders, and creates joint agendas that deliver measurable value through innovation, resilience, quality, risk reduction, sustainability, operational improvement and commercial outcomes. The role ensures that Takeda presents a coordinated enterprise position to selected enterprise strategic suppliers and strengthens Takeda’s position as a customer of choice, enabling priority access to supplier capabilities, expertise and investment. How you will contribute: Elevate Takeda’s most important supplier relationships into strategic enterprise partnerships aligned with business priorities and long-term value creation.
Establish effective enterprise governance and mobilize senior internal and supplier stakeholders around shared outcomes, mutual accountability and timely decision-making. Build and execute joint value roadmaps that generate measurable innovation, resilience, quality, sustainability, operational and commercial impact. Strengthen Takeda’s position as a customer of choice, securing differentiated access to supplier expertise, capabilities, investment and market insight.
Accountabilities: Own the enterprise relationship strategy for a select portfolio of top suppliers, translating Takeda’s priorities and supplier capabilities into differentiated partnership plans and multi-year joint value roadmaps. Design and lead fit-for-purpose governance, including executive sponsorship, relationship ownership, decision rights, meeting cadence, escalation paths and cross-functional participation across global, regional and business-unit stakeholders. Build trusted executive-to-executive relationships with supplier leadership; prepare and facilitate strategic business reviews focused on future opportunities, enterprise priorities and mutual value—not only operational performance.
Orchestrate senior stakeholders across Procurement, Finance, Quality, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Sustainability, Operations, IT, R&D and relevant business functions to establish a unified Takeda position and deliver agreed actions. Identify, qualify and advance supplier-enabled opportunities spanning innovation, new technologies, speed to market, process improvement, demand shaping, total cost of ownership, growth enablement and sustainability. Assess strategic dependencies, supplier economics and the reciprocal value Takeda brings to each relationship, using these insights to strengthen leverage, supplier commitment and sustainable mutual value.
Define value cases, targets and benefit-realization mechanisms; maintain a transparent pipeline and communicate outcomes, barriers and decisions to Procurement and business leadership using concise, evidence-based reporting. Establish tailored, balanced and where appropriate mutual scorecards covering service, quality, cost, innovation, collaboration, risk, compliance and strategic contribution; ensure insights lead to accountable improvement plans. Integrate supplier performance, relationship health and risk intelligence to strengthen continuity, capacity, resilience and compliance while maintaining clear distinction between risk monitoring and performance improvement actions.
Lead resolution of significant relationship or performance issues by aligning internal owners, engaging supplier executives, removing barriers and ensuring sustainable corrective actions and follow-through. Maintain an enterprise portfolio view of enterprise strategic supplier partnerships, providing leadership with evidence-based recommendations on value opportunities, relationship health, dependencies, risks, resource prioritization and required executive interventions. Advance Takeda’s enterprise supplier partnership capability by codifying good practices, improving data and technology enablement, coaching relationship owners and promoting consistent adoption across the organization.
Education, Behaviors, Competencies, Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Life Sciences or a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, business partnership or a related discipline, including leadership of complex, global supplier relationships. Demonstrated ability to operate at Director level, influence senior executives and align diverse stakeholders in a global matrix without relying on direct authority.
Proven success establishing enterprise governance, executive sponsorship models, joint business plans, supplier scorecards and structured escalation mechanisms. Strong commercial judgment and understanding of contracts, total cost of ownership, value realization, negotiation, supplier economics and risk management. Track record of converting supplier relationships into measurable outcomes such as innovation, resilience, quality improvement, cost optimization, sustainability or growth enablement.
Executive presence and exceptional relationship-building, facilitation and conflict-resolution skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and create shared accountability. Strong analytical and storytelling capability, able to translate complex performance, risk and opportunity data into clear decisions and compelling recommendations. Enterprise mindset, sound judgment and the ability to balance long-term strategic opportunity with immediate operational and compliance requirements.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, manage multiple strategic priorities and sustain momentum in a fast-paced, international environment. Business-level fluency in English required; additional languages are an advantage. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Professional procurement, supply management or relationship-management certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM or equivalent) is desirable but not required.
