Additional Job Details (if applicable) The Miller Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Systems Biology is recruiting a full-time Research Technician.
The Miller Laboratory for Precision Therapeutics develops new chemical and nanotechnology-based approaches for spatially controlled cancer therapy. Our research combines organic synthesis, bioconjugate chemistry, drug delivery, molecular imaging, cancer biology, immunology, and quantitative tissue analysis to understand and engineer how therapeutics behave within tumors.
The successful candidate will collaborate with postdocs and faculty on projects involving radiation-activated chemistry, drug conjugates, and externally triggered therapeutic systems. Research may include the testing and purification of radiation-responsive linkers and prodrugs; development and synthesis of antibody, protein, polymer, or nanoparticle conjugates; investigation of radiation-mediated payload activation; and characterization of new compounds using cell culture assays, mouse tumor models, and microscopy.
Projects may also incorporate radiopharmaceuticals, ultrasound-responsive drug delivery, bioorthogonal chemistry, molecular imaging, and studies of the tumor immune microenvironment. Therapeutic distribution and response may be evaluated using preclinical tumor models, multiplex tissue imaging, flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, and spatial-omics techniques.
The technician will work within a multidisciplinary environment and collaborate with chemists, cancer biologists, immunologists, engineers, imaging scientists, radiation oncologists, and other physician-scientists across Massachusetts General Hospital and the broader Harvard research community. Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial: Antibody–drug, protein–drug, or polymer–drug conjugates.
Stimuli-responsive or activatable chemistry. Nanoparticle formulation and physicochemical characterization.
Radiochemistry and radiopharmaceuticals. Cancer biology, tumor models, or cancer immunology.
Molecular imaging and microscopy. Ultrasound-responsive materials or drug-delivery systems.
Pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or biodistribution. Flow cytometry, multiplex tissue imaging, single-cell sequencing, or spatial omics.
Applicants are not expected to have experience in all of these areas. Candidates with strong chemistry and cancer biology backgrounds who are interested in expanding into imaging, immunology, and translational therapeutics are particularly encouraged to apply.
