Member of Technical Staff, Translational Medicine

We're seeking a Member of Technical Staff for Translational Medicine to be Latch's expert on human disease and clinical evidence.

About the Role

Own the translational endpoints in our long-horizon therapeutics and disease benchmarks. Make sure every claim Latch makes stands up to scrutiny from a board-certified geneticist, a regulator, or a treating physician. Build the partnerships that get clinical data in the door and the translational capability to use it in a meaningful way.

What You'll Do

Own translational endpoints across our therapeutics and disease benchmarks

Serve as the clinical authority for internal R&D teams across omics, therapeutics, and biosecurity

Build partnerships with patient cohorts, nonprofits, health systems, and biotechs to source clinical data for training and evaluating agents

Negotiate data use agreements and stand up consent, de-identification, and compliance workflows for clinically sensitive data

Translate real drug programs and trial designs into benchmark tasks agents can be scored against

Build a function beyond yourself

Requirements

MD with residency completed

Has defined clinical endpoints for real drug programs

Was part of at least one clinical trial at any phase as a physician or investigator. You can describe the molecule, patient population, dose rationale, safety profile, and regulatory or safety board feedback

Can identify and reason about disorders of human development caused by genetic mutations

Strong communicator

Competencies

Translational judgement — You know what an endpoint has to do to survive review

Data rights — You have negotiated data use agreements and understand consent and de-identification cold

Partnerships — You have secured data or research partnerships with patient groups, nonprofits, academics, health systems, or biotechs. You know where clinical data lives and how to get access

Clinical genetics — Depth in Mendelian and developmental disease

Compliance — You can build the function, not just follow it

AI — You are resourceful in leveraging AI tools across clinical and scientific domains

Nice to Have

Rare disease or gene therapy experience

Molecular pathology background

Experience building datasets for model training or evaluation

Interview advice

Be able to walk through one molecule end to end. The mechanism, population, dose rationale, endpoint selection, what the regulators said, and what you did.

Compensation & Logistics

$250-$400k total comp, based on clinical and technical depth

Variable compensation + equity + stock options

100% premium covered Blue Shield platinum health plan ($0 deductible / $0 out-of-pocket)
