About this role

The position We are seeking a skilled Research Laboratory Scientist to join the Cancer Cell Targeting Department at Boehringer Ingelheim on a 2-year fixed-term contract. In this role, you will support the discovery and characterization of innovative biotherapeutics, contributing directly to cutting-edge drug discovery efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the development of novel cancer therapies and advance scientific innovation in oncology.

Tasks & responsibilities Support the discovery and characterization of novel antibody-based therapeutics and innovative oncology drug candidates. Independently plan, coordinate, execute, analyse, and document in vitro experiments. Continuously develop, optimize, and troubleshoot novel methods and techniques to ensure efficient and reliable experimental outcomes.

Apply fundamental scientific principles, conduct literature reviews, and implement published protocols. Manage laboratory infrastructure by maintaining equipment, coordinating reagent procurement, overseeing inventory, and ensuring an organized and efficient working environment. Requirements Relevant education (e.g., a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or a related discipline) and ideally at least one year of laboratory experience.

Hands-on experience with in vitro cell viability assays (2D and 3D), organoid cultures, primary human immune cells (particularly macrophages), high-content imaging and analysis using OPERA/OPERA Phenix systems, flow cytometry, genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9), and molecular biology techniques is considered an advantage, as is a strong understanding of current concepts in cancer research. Strong team spirit, excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as outstanding data analysis and data management capabilities. Self-organized and independent working style, combined with creative thinking and a lateral-thinking mindset.

The remuneration for this position starts at EUR 53.900 gross annual target salary per year (full time). The actual salary package depends on professional experience and qualifications. We will be happy to discuss further details in person.
