Position Summary

The Vice President, Global Facilities & Real Estate provides enterprise leadership for STERIS facilities, real estate, capital project execution, maintenance reliability, and facilities governance across the global portfolio. This role establishes the Global Facilities & Real Estate Center of Excellence operating model, aligning standards, decision rights, performance management, and regional execution to support safe, compliant, scalable, and cost-effective operations. The position leads strategic planning for owned and leased facilities, major capital investments, site development, international facilities support, infrastructure reliability, and long-term portfolio optimization.

Through disciplined governance, cross-functional partnership, and executive-level leadership, this role enables business growth, risk reduction, operational excellence, capital stewardship, and enterprise value creation.

This position can be remote with 35-40 % Domestic & International Travel Required.

What You’ll Do as a Vice President, Global Facilities & Real Estate

  • Develops and executes the enterprise Global Facilities & Real Estate strategy and Center of Excellence operating model; defines the global facilities roadmap, governance structure, service model, accountability framework, and value creation priorities.
  • Leads enterprise facilities governance, standards, policy deployment, compliance monitoring, risk management, KPI reporting, operating rhythms, and executive transparency across manufacturing, distribution, laboratory, corporate, and support facilities.
  • Provides executive leadership for global site development, facility master planning, capital project delivery, design and engineering oversight, construction management, commissioning, occupancy readiness, and project portfolio governance.
  • Oversees global real estate and portfolio management, including lease strategy, portfolio optimization, site selection, acquisitions, dispositions, workplace strategy, real estate governance, and partnership with Legal, Finance, and business leaders.
  • Directs enterprise facilities maintenance and asset management strategy, including critical infrastructure reliability, asset lifecycle planning, preventive and predictive maintenance standards, CMMS governance, and infrastructure renewal planning.
  • Provides strategic leadership for international facilities operations and regional support, ensuring global consistency while addressing regional business needs, regulatory requirements, service delivery expectations, and operational challenges.
  • Supports multi-year facilities capital, operating, and portfolio investment plans; optimizes facility-related spend, contractor and vendor performance, strategic sourcing opportunities, energy performance, and long-term cost stewardship.
  • Builds, mentors, and leads a high-performing global facilities and real estate organization; strengthens leadership capability, cross-functional alignment, stakeholder engagement, external partner performance, and enterprise communication.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 Years of experience leading global facilities or real estate organizations; capital project execution; facility maintenance and asset management; real estate portfolio strategy; governance, compliance, and risk management; budget ownership; vendor and contract management; and executive stakeholder engagement.
  • Enterprise Facilities & Real Estate Strategy: Ability to translate corporate growth priorities, operational requirements, portfolio needs, and regional business requirements into a scalable enterprise GFRE strategy and operating model.
  • Capital Project Delivery & Site Development: Ability to lead major capital projects, site development, design and engineering oversight, construction management, project controls, commissioning, and occupancy readiness.
  • Real Estate & Portfolio Management: Strong knowledge of owned and leased portfolio strategy, site selection, lease governance, occupancy cost management, utilization analysis, acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate risk management.
  • Facilities Maintenance & Asset Reliability: Ability to establish maintenance standards, asset lifecycle plans, critical infrastructure reliability programs, CMMS governance, infrastructure renewal plans, and facility condition assessment practices.
  • Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Ability to define decision rights, policies, standards, RACI models, KPIs, dashboards, compliance monitoring, risk mitigation, project governance, and executive reporting systems.
  • International Facilities Leadership: Ability to lead through regional complexity, deploy global standards internationally, address local regulatory requirements, support regional facility teams, and partner with international business leaders.
  • Financial Acumen & Value Creation: Ability to manage large-scale operating and capital budgets, evaluate investment alternatives, optimize facility spend, govern vendor performance, improve cost transparency, and drive long-term capital stewardship.
  • Executive Influence & Organizational Leadership: Ability to advise senior leaders, lead matrixed teams, build organizational capability, communicate complex recommendations clearly, manage external partners, and influence outcomes across global stakeholders.

Pay range for this opportunity is $194,650.00 - $251,900.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
