We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Optical Manufacturing Technician (m/f/d) Repairs to support the production of high-precision optical components and lens assemblies. In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing, troubleshooting, testing, and inspecting optical products while ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

As a senior technician, you will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support process development, and assist in training less experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture optical lenses and advanced optical assemblies according to established quality standards.
  • Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and defect analysis using standardized procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production issues to ensure product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Operate and maintain specialized optical manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Utilize metrology equipment and measurement tools to perform quality control inspections.
  • Inspect and adjust laboratory and production equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Support inventory accuracy through appropriate material and inventory transactions.
  • Develop and improve Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and production processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including 5S, Kaizen events, and SQDC initiatives.
  • Conduct safety observations and audits while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Assist in training and developing other technicians on manufacturing processes and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, ISO requirements, and company policies.

Your Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, vocational, or technical education.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Optical Manufacturing Technician or equivalent role.
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing or technical production environment.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and ability to work with very small precision components.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using metrology and measurement tools.
  • Ability to operate specialized manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions within established procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in optical manufacturing or precision manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting technician training and onboarding.
  • Familiarity with ISO-regulated manufacturing environments.

Working Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and laboratory environment and may involve

  • Working with microscopes and precision instruments.
  • Handling very small and delicate components.
  • Extended periods of visual concentration and fine hand manipulation.
  • Standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Working with specialized optical production equipment and tools.
