Pay Range: $30.80 - $42.35 Position Summary: The Shipping & Fulfillment Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the outbound Pick, Pack & Ship department to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately, safely, and on time.
This position oversees a team of approximately 10-15 employees, including Shipping Administrators, Team Leads, Warehouse Associates, and temporary personnel. The role is responsible for workforce planning, labor utilization, overtime management, daily scheduling, and future workload forecasting to support business demands. The Shipping & Fulfillment Supervisor partners closely with Customer Service, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Distribution teams to ensure operational excellence, resolve customer shipment concerns, and drive continuous improvement in a regulated biotech and medical products environment.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Shipping Administrators, Team Leads, Warehouse Associates, and temporary employees. Establish daily priorities and allocate labor resources to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on schedule. Lead all outbound Pick, Pack & Ship operations while maintaining departmental productivity, quality, and service objectives.
Monitor daily order volumes and adjust staffing plans to meet business needs and customer commitments. Develop short-term and long-term labor forecasts to support changing workload requirements. Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready shipment documentation, ensuring traceability of all products and materials.
Partner with Quality to investigate shipping deviations, non-conformances, customer complaints, and audit observations; implement corrective and preventive actions. Manage overtime utilization and departmental labor expenses while maintaining service levels. Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, documented, and shipped according to established procedures and quality standards. Monitor and drive performance against key operational metrics, including Safety, On-Time Delivery, Pick Accuracy, Pack Accuracy, Shipping Accuracy, and Labor Productivity.
Coordinate daily activities with Customer Service, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Distribution teams to prioritize and execute customer shipments. Investigate shipping-related customer complaints, shipment discrepancies, and service failures. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve customer satisfaction and operational performance.
Ensure accurate shipping records and documentation are maintained in accordance with company requirements. Support compliance with applicable DOT, Hazmat, and IATA shipping regulations as required. Promote a safe work environment and ensure adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
Participate in safety initiatives, investigations, and continuous improvement activities. Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, productivity, quality, and service performance. Prepare and communicate departmental performance reports and operational updates.
Complete required company and departmental training. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, shipping, or fulfillment operations, including leadership responsibilities; or an Associate's degree preferred and 2-4 years of relevant leadership experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced fulfillment environment.
Experience with labor planning, workforce scheduling, and overtime management. Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to investigate operational issues and perform root cause analysis.
Experience managing customer-facing service issues and complaint resolution. Strong understanding of order fulfillment, shipping, and distribution processes. Ability to monitor, interpret, and improve operational performance metrics.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP/Warehouse Management Systems. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage changing operational demands.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to collaborate effectively across Customer Service, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Distribution teams. Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Ability to become certified and safely operate powered pallet jacks and forklifts, if required. Working Conditions: Ability to work hours that conform to standard business operations (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) Occasional overtime Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and material handling. Ability to work in cooler and freezer environments for extended periods. Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required.
