Work Schedule Rotational shift nights Environmental Conditions Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job Description As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll join our mRNA Manufacturing team in Monza, supporting the production of innovative therapies in a highly regulated GMP environment. We are looking for an experienced pharmaceutical manufacturing professional who combines strong technical knowledge of biopharmaceutical production processes with previous experience coordinating operators, production activities and/or shifts. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role.
You will work closely with production teams on the shop floor, coordinating day-to-day manufacturing activities, setting priorities and ensuring production targets are achieved safely, on time and in compliance with GMP requirements. What will you do? Coordinate manufacturing operators and activities during the shift, assigning tasks, setting priorities and ensuring effective execution of the production plan.
Provide day-to-day leadership to the shift team, supporting operators and ensuring smooth execution of manufacturing activities. Ensure GMP batches are delivered safely, on time and in line with quality and compliance requirements. Monitor production performance against key KPIs, including Right First Time (RFT) and On Time Delivery (OTD).
Ensure manufacturing activities and batch documentation are performed in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and site procedures. Support the execution of upstream and downstream manufacturing processes, including media preparation, enzymatic reactions in bioreactors, TFF, chromatography, encapsulation and clarification/filtration. Act as a key point of contact during the shift for cross-functional teams including MSAT, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Project Management.
Support the investigation and management of production issues, anomalies and deviations in collaboration with MSAT, Quality and the Manufacturing Manager. Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance and team engagement across the shift. What are we looking for ?
Essential requirements: 5+ years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing within a GMP production environment. Previous experience coordinating manufacturing operators, production teams and/or shift activities. This could include experience as a Shift Coordinator, Team Leader, Manufacturing Supervisor or similar. ·Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing operations and shop-floor production processes.
Hands-on knowledge of upstream and/or downstream biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, such as bioreactor operations, enzymatic reactions, TFF, chromatography, encapsulation and filtration/clarification. Experience working with production documentation, SOPs, deviations and GMP compliance requirements. Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and coordinate effectively with technical and support functions.
Strong communication, coordination and leadership skills. Fluency in Italian and English. Availability to work shifts.
Preferred qualifications Previous experience in mRNA manufacturing or other advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Experience across both upstream and downstream manufacturing processes. Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
